사회적 구성주의 관점에서 발달장애 자녀를 둔 어머니의 학습경험

Background : This study begins with the question of how the care of individuals with disabilities is situated within the socio-cultural context of Korean society. It specifically focuses on mothers of children with developmental disabilities who engage in various learning activities to support their children's social adaptation, thereby gaining opportunities for self-reflection and personal insight. Purpose : The purpose of this study is to explore, from a social constructivist perspective, how mothers of children with developmental disabilities construct knowledge and experience throughout the parenting process and how learning emerges in this context. Methodology / Approach : A phenomenological qualitative research method was employed, involving in-depth interviews with five mothers raising children with developmental disabilities. The collected data were analyzed to uncover the essential meanings of their learning experiences. Findings / Conclusions : The participating mothers developed internal growth and acquired new parenting strategies through continuous social interactions with peer parents, professionals, and community members. Implications : This study suggests that parent education and support systems for families of children with developmental disabilities should move beyond the provision of information and be designed in more collaborative and practice-oriented ways.
