이머징 국가 제약·바이오 기업의 비즈니스 모델 동태성 연구:기업 가치 체계 변화 관점

Companies in resource-constrained emerging economies must develop dynamic business models that propose, create/deliver, and capture differentiated value within global value chains in order to succeed in entering global market. While business model dynamics function as strategic mechanisms for attaining global competitive advantages, and while resources and capabilities can facilitate these dynamics, empirical research on the internal and external factors that promote such dynamics and value system changes remains limited. This study constructs a framework for the dynamics of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies' business models from a value system perspective through literature reviews, and then empirically tests it via content analysis of case studies of leading Korean pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. The findings indicate that business model dynamics can be classified into adaptation, reconfiguration, and innovation, underpinned by a framework based on corporate activities related to the value system. The results suggest that emerging country firms can successfully enter global markets by leveraging differentiated resources and capabilities to transform their value systems and business models, and that customized support and robust institutional foundations are critical for fostering these transformative processes.
