이 논문은 플랫폼 노동 문제가 동시대 시와 소설, 수기 등의 텍스트에서 어떻게 재현되고 있는지 검토하는 것을 목표로 한다. 플랫폼 경제가 중요해지고 관련 노동의 규모가 확장되면서 이에 대한 문학적 재현도 늘고 있다. 플랫폼이 노동자의 시간과 공간을 배치하는 방식을 문학 텍스트를 통해 확인해보며 동시대 노동 문제에 대한 문학적 상상력의 갱신을 더듬어보고자 한 것이다. 이를 위해 이서수의 소설 ｢발 없는 새 떨어뜨리기｣, 헬프 미 시스터 , 월급사실주의 동인의 소설, 주창윤의 시, 기타 관련 노동 수기를 검토했다. 플랫폼 노동의 특징은 노동의 외주화를 통해 노동-시간 자체를 쪼개놓는다는 데에 있다. 노동자는 잘게 쪼개진 노동-시간과, 플랫폼에서 일감을 기다리는 대기 노동-시간 내내 플랫폼에 종속되며 시간 빈곤 상태에 처한다. 또한 플랫폼과 매개된 모빌리티 노동은 노동자의 숙련도를 빠르게 해체시킴으로써 노동자와 노동 사이의 연결성을 희미하게 만드는 데에 일조한다. 여기에 더해 플랫폼은 노동자와 노동자 사이의 연결성, 노동자와 고객 사이의 연결성도 지워나가는 방식으로 작동한다. 이로써 플랫폼 노동자는 연결성이 제거된 채 장소 빈곤 상태에 처하게 된다. 본고는 이같은 노동의 배치를 수행하는 플랫폼의 통치에 주목하고 플랫폼 노동자의 정동적 노동 문제를 조명했다. 이 논문은 연결성 제거를 수락한 이후에 새롭게 도모되는 대안적 연결성을 패치워크 연결성으로 명명하고, 문학 텍스트 속에 나타난 연결성의 흔적을 확인했다. 이로써 동시대 문학적 상상력의 임계와 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 플랫폼 노동 문제를 둘러싼 새로운 노동소설과 노동시의 상상력은 몫을 새롭게 나누는 문학의 정치성을 보여주는 중요한 사례라 하겠다.
Abstract
This paper examines how the issues of platform labor are represented in contemporary literary texts, including poetry, novels, and essays. Given the increasing significance of the platform economy and the expansion of its associated labor, literary representations of this phenomenon are also growing. By analyzing how platforms structure workers' time and space through these texts, this study aims to track the evolving literary imagination regarding contemporary labor issues. To this end, it examines novels by Lee Seo-su, poems by Joo Chang-yoon, and essays by workers. A central characteristic of platform labor is the fragmentation of labor-time through outsourcing. Consequently, workers are subjected to the platform throughout both their active, fragmented work periods and the latent waiting time spent anticipating assignments on the platform, resulting in temporal precarity. Moreover, platform-mediated mobility labor contributes to the accelerated deskilling of workers, thereby obscuring the relationship between workers and their labor. Furthermore, the platform operates to erode connections not only among workers but also between workers and customers. This process leads to a sense of spatial dispossession for platform workers, disconnecting them from meaningful locales. This paper centers on the platform's governance in orchestrating this configuration of labor and elucidates the affective labor challenges encountered by platform workers. This study introduces the concept of "patchwork connectivity" to describe the alternative forms of connection newly explored after the recognition of disconnection, and identifies instances of this connectivity within literary texts. This analysis thereby elucidates both the limitations and potential of contemporary literary imagination. The imaginative landscape of emerging labor novels and poetry addressing platform labor serves as a significant illustration of literature's political capacity to reimagine the distribution of social and economic shares.
