국내기업의 산림 관련 ESG 활동 확대 방안: ESG 이니셔티브 지표 분석 중심으로

This study aims to expand forest-related ESG activities to enhance corporate competitiveness while contributing to national carbon neutrality targets and the conservation of natural ecosystems. To this end, forest-related indicators from four major ESG initiatives and two EU regulations was analysed, and forest-related ESG activities were classified into three sectors: ① improving carbon accounting, ② conserving and restoring ecosystems and biodiversity, and ③ preventing forest degradation, and six sector-specific activities. As a result of examining forest-related ESG activities currently implemented by domestic companies according to this classification, carbon accounting improvement activities are very insufficient, and the capacity to quantify and present specific information on carbon footprint information in corporate supply chains and activities related to ecosystem and biodiversity is insufficient. Therefore, as a measure to improve and expand this, support projects (development of business guidelines and promotion/education, etc.) to expand awareness and improve forest-related ESG activities should be further strengthened, and the development of regionally tailored activities through networking and support with local governments or civil society groups of companies' main raw material suppliers, production sites and business locations was suggested.
