Technology Trend Analysis of Offshore Wind Power Using Text Mining on Patent Data

초록

This study analyzes offshore wind power technology trends through text mining of patent data and proposes policy directions to strengthen South Korea's competitiveness in this field. Offshore wind power is emerging as a key technology for achieving the global carbon neutrality(Net Zero) goal, and is focusing on research and development due to its greater technological and economic advantages over onshore wind power. Accordingly, this study applied text mining techniques to offshore wind power-related patent data filed in Korea and PCT from 2015 to 2024 to analyze annual patent application trends and key technology trends by country. The analysis results showed that domestic patent applications are focused on structure and installation technologies, while overseas patent applications are actively filed in high value-added technology fields such as turbine and blade design and power conversion systems. Based on these findings, we recommend policy initiatives to diversify Korea's technological portfolio, enhance capabilities in high value-added domains, and develop technologies compliant with international standards. These suggestions aim to support the sustainable growth of Korea's offshore wind power industry while contributing to national technological innovation and carbon neutrality objectives.

Abstract
