This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the divorce process of couples seeking a consensual divorce and to propose institutional directions that can support psychological stability and the recovery of parental roles after divorce. A survey was conducted with 152 individuals (76 males and 76 females) who filed for consensual divorce at the Family Court in Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do, focusing on reasons for divorce post-divorce concerns and custody arrangements. Frequency and regression analyses were performed based on gender duration of marriage and household monthly income. The results showed that the main reasons for divorce were personality differences and economic difficulties, with a significant correlation found between the reasons for divorce and household income. Regarding post-divorce concerns, males primarily expressed worries about child-rearing, while females focused on economic independence. These concerns varied significantly based on gender and income level. For couples married for less than 25 years, child-rearing was the primary concern, while those married for 25 years or more were more concerned with economic independence. Regarding custody arrangements, women were significantly more likely to be granted custody than men, with a particularly high proportion of women receiving custody in households with a monthly income of less than 2 million KRW. This suggests a structural relationship between economic conditions and social perceptions of parenting responsibilities. The study is significant in that it identified regional characteristics and policy demands that are not captured by national statistics through a micro-level analysid focused on the specific area of Gunsan. It also tical intervention measures makes academic and policy contributions by providing foundational data for the development of practical intervention measures such as region-specific counseling services, economic support, and child-rearing systems.
