미국 음악교사들의 초등음악지도법 중요도 인식 요인 분석

초록
본 연구는 미국음악교사들(N = 200)을 대상으로 초등음악지도법의 네 가지 요인에 대한 중요도 인식을 조사하고, 교사 연차(1–9년, 10–19년, 20년 이상)에 따른 인식 차이를 분석하였다. 예비교사역량을 위하여 교원양성기관에서 지도하는 초등음악지도법 구성 요소는 ‘교수접근방법’, ‘교수학습자료’, ‘수업의 실제’, ‘수업과 평가’ 네 가지 요인으로 설정되었으며, 요인별 중요도에 대한 기술통계와 탐색적 요인분석, 일원배치 분산분석(ANOVA)을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, ‘수업의 실제’, ‘교수학습자료’, ‘수업과 평가’, ‘교수접근방법’ 순으로 나타났다. 특히 ‘교수접근방법’, ‘수업의 실제’, ‘수업과 평가’ 요인에서 교사 연차에 따른 유의미한 인식 차이가 관찰되었으며, 경력 교사일수록 해당 요인들의 중요도를 높게 평가하는 경향을 보였다. 반면 ‘교수학습자료’ 요인에서는 연차 간 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구는 초등음악 수업을 지도하는 데 있어 현직 교사들이 실제로 중요하게 여기는 요소들을 실증적으로 확인하였으며, 예비교사 교육과정의 설계 및 초등음악지도법 교수전략 수립을 위한 경험 기반의 자료를 제공하였다는 점에서 학문적·실천적 의의를 지닌다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine in-service music teachers’ perceptions of elementary methods course topics based on their classroom teaching experience utilizing factor analysis. Music teachers (N = 200) who had taught K-5 music in the elementary classroom participated in this study. Using a seven-point Likert-type scale, participants rated importance of four elementary music instructional areas, referred as four factors, consisting of 20 specific course topics in this study: Factor 1 = Instructional Methods and Approaches; Factor II = Instructional Resources; Factor III = Fundamentals of Music; and Factor IV = Teaching and Evaluation. I then computed ANOVA analyses to compare these four factors rating differences among groups of music teachers divided by their years of music instruction in the classroom. Based on the result of this study, I found that participants’ years of music instructional experiences influenced their ratings of these three factors: Instructional Methods and Approaches; Fundamentals of Music; and Teaching and Evaluation. The findings will be useful for elementary music methods course instructors to review and redesign their courses for more effective pre-service music teacher education. The findings of this study can also benefit music teachers by becoming more informed by knowing which undergraduate methods course topics fellow music teachers considered highly important.
