코로나19 팬데믹 이후 온라인 상거래의 급증으로 물류산업에서 탄소 배출 감소와 폐기물 최소화를 목표로 하는 ‘녹색물류’의 중요성이 더욱 강조되고 있다. 본 연구는 우리나라 대표 물류기업인 CJ대한통운과 한진이 발간한 2024년 지속가능경영보고서를 바탕으로, 두 기업이 직면한 ESG 관련 리스크와 이를 해결하기 위한 지속가능 경영 목표및 실행 방안을 비교 분석한다. ESG 경영의 중요성은 지속적으로 강조되고 있지만, 기업들의 구체적인 ESG 실천 사례를 비교한 연구는 아직 부족한 실정이다. 본 사례연구는 두 기업의 ESG 리스크 관리 전략을 비교함으로써, 동일 산업 내 기업 실무자들이자사 ESG 경영을 개선하는 데 참고할 수 있는 실질적인 사례와 지침을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 또한, 최근 교육기관에서도 ESG 경영이 중요한 주제로 다루어지고 있는 만큼, 본 연구는 학생들이 지속가능경영 보고서의 구조와 내용을 이해하고, 이를 바탕으로 기업의 ESG 전략을 분석하고 평가하는 데 유용한 교육 자료로 활용될 수있을 것이다.
Abstract
The surge in online commerce following the COVID-19 pandemic has heightened the importance of “green logistics” in the logistics industry, with a focus on reducing carbon emissions and minimizing waste. This study conducts a comparative analysis of the 2024 sustainability reports published by two leading Korean logistics companies, CJ Logistics and Hanjin, examining the ESG-related risks they face and the sustainable management goals and strategies they have implemented to address these challenges. While the significance of ESG management continues to grow, there is still a lack of research comparing the practical ESG initiatives undertaken by companies. This case study compares the ESG risk management strategies of the two companies, providing practical examples and guidance for industry practitioners seeking to improve their own ESG management practices. Furthermore, given that ESG management has become a key topic in educational institutions, this study can also serve as a valuable educational resource for students to familiarize themselves with the structure and content of sustainability reports and to develop their ability to analyze and assess corporate ESG strategies.
