이혼한 한부모가 지각한 차별 경험, 양육 어려움, 청소년의 인터넷 및 스마트폰 과의존 간 관계: 한부모 우울의 조절된 매개효과

This study examined the moderated mediation effect of parental depression in the relationship between perceived discrimination among divorced single parents and adolescents' internet and smartphone overdependence, mediated by parenting difficulties. Data from 1,348 divorced single parents who participated in the 2021 Single-Parent Family Survey in Korea were analyzed using Hayes' PROCESS Macro Models 4 and 14. The results are as follows: First, the perceived discrimination experienced by divorced single parents had a positive effect on parenting difficulties. Furthermore, the perceived discrimination and parenting difficulties were positively associated with the adolescents' overdependence on the internet and smartphones. Second, the perceived discrimination experienced by single parents positively affected adolescents' overdependence on the internet and smartphones through parenting difficulties. Third, parenting difficulties were moderated by parental depression in their effect on adolescents' overdependence on the internet and smartphones, with stronger positive effects as the level of parental depression increased. Fourth, the moderated mediation effect of parental depression was observed, with the positive mediation effects becoming stronger as the level of parental depression increased. This study suggests that efforts to reduce parental depression are necessary before interventions to prevent internet and smartphone overdependence in adolescents from single-parent families.
