특허 지표를 활용한 자동차 NVH(Noise, Vibration, Harshness)의 국가별 기술경쟁력 분석: 미국, 유럽, 한국, 일본을 중심으로

최근 모빌리티 혁신으로 자동차 NVH(Noise, Vibration, Harshness) 기술의 전략적 가치가 높아지고 있으나, 기존 연구는 주로 설계 최적화나 성능 평가에 집중되어 국가 간 기술경쟁력 비교와 연도별 성장 추세를 다루는 정량적·시계열 분석이 부족하다. 따라서, 이 연구는 윈텔립스 데이터베이스에 등록된 미국, 유럽, 한국, 일본의 자동차 NVH 관련 등록 특허를 활용하여, 출원 동향, 기술 분포, Gartner Hype Cycle의 단계에 따른 성장 단계, 그리고 CRn(집중률), CPP(인용도), PFS(패밀리 크기) 지표를 교차분석함으로써 국가별 기술경쟁력의 구조적 특성을 규명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 분석 결과, 2014년 이후 네 국가 모두 NVH 특허 출원이 증가하였으나, 미국은 ‘기술 정점 단계’에서 ‘회복 단계’로 전환되는 시점에 CRn, CPP, PFS 모든 지표가 평균을 상회하며 전방위적 기술 선도국임을 확인하였다. 반면, 유럽과 한국은 기술 정점 이후 수요 감소 및 회복 지연으로 미국 대비 특허성과가 낮았고, 일본은 ‘붕괴 단계’의 장기화로 전 지표에서 평균 이하를 기록하여 기술 확산력과 파급력이 제한된 국가로 평가되었다. 이러한 교차분석은 단일 지표 기반 평가의 한계를 극복하고, 다중 특허 지표와 기술 성장 단계 모델을 통합한 복합적 정량 평가가 국가 간 기술역량 차이를 구조적으로 설명하는 데 필수적임을 시사한다.
Abstract
The strategic importance of automobile NVH technology has increased due to mobility advancements; yet, there are still few quantitative time-series comparisons of cross-country competitiveness. This study reveals structural variations in NVH competitiveness by analyzing application trends, technology distribution, Gartner's Hype Cycle phases, and CRn, CPP, and PFS measures using WINTELIPS patent data from the U.S., European countries, Japan and Republic of Korea. The findings highlight the need for integrated, multi-indicator assessments to guide NVH development strategies, with the U.S. clearly leading at the “peak-to-recovery" transition, the European Contries and Republic of Korea trailing behind due to slower recovery after the peak, and Japan falling short during a protracted collapse phase.
