경제적 어려움으로 인한 자살 생각 경험률에 영향을 주는 요인

This study aimed to examine the association between socioeconomic status and suicidal ideation due to economic hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic, using nationally representative survey data. Data from the 2021 Community Health Survey was used, and the study population consisted of 229,242 adults aged 19 years and older. Logistic regression analysis was performed to analyze the association between economic hardship and suicidal ideation. The analysis results showed that the rate of suicidal ideation in 2021 was 7.0%, and among those who experienced suicidal ideation, the rate of suicidal ideation due to economic hardship was 18.8%. The socioeconomic factors that influence suicidal ideation due to economic hardship are monthly household income and employment status. Those with a household monthly income of less than 2.5 million KRW (OR=1.29, p< .01) and 250~349 million KRW (OR=1.24, p= .02) were more likely to have suicidal ideation due to economic hardship compared to those with a monthly income of more than 4.5 million won. The self-employed (OR=1.25, p= .01) and wage earners (OR=1.24, p= .047) were more likely to have suicidal ideation due to economic hardship compared to the economically inactive. In order to reduce suicidal ideation due to economic hardship, stable job policies are needed as well as economic support, such as income support policies for groups with low socioeconomic levels. It seems likely that social support systems such as family and friends should be provided for mentally vulnerable groups with depressive symptoms and stress.
