지속 가능한 디자인 요소를 적용한 금속 커트러리 개발 연구

The purpose of this study is to propose a strategy that integrates environmental responsibility, economic efficiency, and social universality by applying sustainable design elements to metal cutlery design. The scope of the research encompasses the efficiency of materials and resources, user experience and emotional design, and the modern interpretation of traditional culture. Through this approach, the study seeks to re-examine the formative characteristics and cultural significance of metal cutlery from the perspective of sustainability. The research methods are as follows: first, the concepts of sustainability, sustainable design elements, and the definition of cutlery were organized based on prior studies. Second, domestic and international cases of tableware and cutlery were comparatively analyzed to derive approaches such as circular economy-based design reflecting material efficiency, low-energy and eco-friendly processing, and the application of traditional aesthetics. Third, these elements were applied to the researcher’s own metal cutlery designs in order to demonstrate their effectiveness and applicability. The results show that metal cutlery can serve as a medium that not only bridges traditional culture and modern aesthetics but also enables active resource reduction. This was realized through efficient production processes that mitigate environmental burdens and through user-centered designs that embody emotional experiences. In particular, by reinterpreting traditional patterns as formative design principles, the study concretely reflects social universality and the modern succession of cultural heritage. Furthermore, this study, based on concrete cases of applying sustainable design elements to metal cutlery, presents the potential to expand the sustainability of everyday tableware design, thereby suggesting both theoretical and practical contributions.
