연구자의 IP 활동이 기술이전 성과에 미치는 영향 - IP 성과의 매개효과 중심으로 -

This study aims to empirically examine the impact of researchers’ intellectual property (IP) activities on technology transfer performance, focusing on the mediating role of IP performance. A structural model was developed in which IP activities were designated as the independent variable, IP performance as the mediating variable, and technology transfer performance as the dependent variable. The empirical analysis was conducted using multiple regression on valid responses collected from researchers with IP-R&D consulting experience, excluding insincere or incomplete data. The results of the multiple regression analysis revealed the following: First, among researchers’ IP activities, IP creation and protection exerted a significant positive effect on IP performance and technology transfer performance, whereas IP infrastructure showed a significant negative effect. Second, IP performance was found to significantly and positively influence technology transfer performance. Third, IP performance played a mediating role in the relationship between IP creation and protection activities and technology transfer performance. These findings highlight the critical importance of researcher-led IP activities, which have often been overlooked in prior studies of technology transfer outcomes. The study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence that integrates both IP activities and IP performance in explaining technology transfer outcomes, and it offers meaningful implications for policymakers, industrial, and institutional IP management strategies.
