농어촌 지역 순찰방법 개선에 관한 연구

With the acceleration of population decline and urban centralization, rural areas are experiencing significant challenges in maintaining effective police services. This is primarily due to a reduction in police personnel and the consolidation of local police stations. Although rural areas generally report lower crime rates than urban regions, the necessity of a stable police presence remains critical. An analysis of rural policing conditions revealed three major issues. (1) a decreased public perception of safety; (2) reduced field responsiveness due to aging officers; and (3) growing security gaps. To address these issues, the study proposes three improvement strategies. (1) the deployment of Self-Driving Car for patrol operations; (2) the implementation of drone-based patrols; and (3) the integration of police and administrative personnel through a joint agency model. These strategies are expected to mitigate manpower shortages, improve patrol efficiency, and modernize rural policing systems. However, this study has two limitations. First, the study is unable to fully reflect the views of local residents and police officers because it relies on public statistical data and other research sources. Second, the absence of detailed crime statistics in rural areas imposes limitations on accurately identifying the crime situation. Nevertheless, the study holds significance by offering patrol improvement strategies that account for the characteristics of rural areas. Future research should include field surveys and interviews to further evaluate the feasibility of the proposed measures.
