이 글에서는 무라카미 하루키의 소설을 중심으로 전후세대가 어떻게 ‘전쟁세대 아버지’를 서사화했는지 검토하였다. 1장에서는 후기 구조주의와 포스트모더니즘을 수용한 1980년대 일본 비평계의 안팎을 주목하면서, 포스트모더니즘의 특징으로 지목된 패스티시와 주체의 문제(프레드릭 제임슨)가 어떻게 연결되는지 고찰하였다. 2장에서는 주체의 문제를 염두에 두면서, 1980년대에 가라타니 고진이 무라카미 하루키의 소설을 일본 근대문학의 계보에 위치시키는 논리와 함의를 밝혔다. 이어서 2000년대에는 오쓰카 에이지의 무라카미 비평이 보인 방향 전환에 주목하면서, 1980년대의 하스미 시게히코, 가라타니의 무라카미 비평과의 연속적 측면을 확인하였다. 3장에서는 무라카미의 소설에 대해, 그러한 비평적 계보와는 다른 읽기를 시도하였다. 이를 위해 ‘이중 코드화’와 패스티시의 관점에서, 『태엽 감는 새 연대기』(1994･1995), 『해변의 카프카』(2002), 『1Q84』(2009･2010), 『기사단장 죽이기』(2017)에 나타난 서사구조의 파열 가능성을 분석하였다.
Abstract
This article examines examines how the postwar generation, particularly through the lens of Haruki Murakami's novels, has narrativized the “father of the war generation.” The study first focuses on the critical landscape of 1980s Japan, which embraced post-structuralism and postmodernism, and explores the connection between the problem of the subject and pastiche, as identified by Fredric Jameson as a key feature of postmodernism. It then reveals the logic and implications of how Kojin Karatani positioned Murakami’s novels within the genealogy of modern Japanese literature in the 1980s, keeping the problem of the subject in mind. The paper considers the shift in direction seen in Eiji Otsuka’s Murakami criticism in the 2000s, confirming its continuity with the earlier criticism by Shigehiko Hasumi and Karatani in the 1980s. It attempts a different reading of Murakami's novels, distinct from this critical lineage. Through the perspectives of “dual coding” and pastiche, it analyzes the possibility of narrative structure rupture in The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle(1994･1995), Kafka on the Shore(2002), 1Q84(2009･2010), and Killing Commendatore(2017).
