바쿠치올 성분이 30대~50대 한국 여성의 피부 색소침착 개선에 미치는 효과

Reflecting consumers’ demand for hyper-personalized skincare, the variety of cosmetic products is diversifying, with increasing emphasis on eco-friendly and sustainable functional ingredients. Recently, bakuchiol, a compound extracted from Psoralea corylifolia, has gained attention as a cosmetic ingredient due to its antioxidant, anticancer, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties similar to those of retinol. Bakuchiol has been used in pharmaceuticals and health supplements and is now being applied in cosmetics based on recent skin efficacy research. This study evaluated the effects of bakuchiol on skin pigmentation in Korean women in their 30s to 50s through clinical trials. Twenty-four participants were equally divided into an experimental group and a control group (12 each). The experimental group used a skincare regimen containing 0.2% bakuchiol, while the control group used the same regimen without bakuchiol, over a six-week period. Results showed no significant changes in the control group, whereas the experimental group demonstrated significant reductions in periocular wrinkles, overall facial wrinkles, skin texture, and UV-induced pigmentation index. Although decreases were also observed in pore size, expression lines, skin tone, and moisture, these were not statistically significant. A slight increase in skin redness was noted in the experimental group. These findings indicate that bakuchiol is effective in reducing skin pigmentation and improving facial wrinkles and skin texture. However, the mild increase in skin redness suggests that higher concentrations of bakuchiol may cause skin irritation, emphasizing the need for further development of combined ingredients to mitigate redness while maximizing bakuchiol’s benefits.
