융복합 디자인 교육 활성화 방안 연구 -웹툰과 시각디자인 전공 융합을 중심으로-

The rapid development of digital media and AI technologies has fueled the growth of the webtoon industry, highlighting the need for convergence between webtoon content and visual design education in higher education. Webtoons are no longer confined to digital comics but are expanding into interactive media, animation, advertising, and branding, positioning them as complex content forms closely linked to visual design. This study explores effective strategies for integrating webtoon education into visual design programs. It examines multiple approaches, including curriculum supplementation, the establishment of independent majors, and the creation of interdisciplinary programs. The goal is to propose a practical, scalable education model that reflects both academic theory and industry practice. By analyzing domestic and international case studies, the study identifies key intersections between webtoon creation—such as storytelling, character design, color, and visual direction and visual design training. It also emphasizes the need for governance strategies such as faculty specialization, interdepartmental collaboration, industry partnerships, and practice-ba sed infrastructure. The findings suggest that integrating webtoon content into visual design education can foster creative professionals equipped for the digital content industry and enhance the global competitiveness of Korea’s webtoon sector.
