한국 벤처창업 연구의 발전과 확장: 키워드 네트워크 분석과 다층 수준 고찰을 중심으로

국내 창업연구의 양적 팽창에도 불구하고, 국내 창업연구의 지식 체계를 포괄적으로 이해하는 데 어려움이 존재하는 실정이다, 본 연구는 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위해 한국 창업연구의 대표 학술지인『벤처창업연구』에 게재된 2006년부터 2024년까지의 논문을 키워드 네트워크 분석과 다층 수준(개인, 조직, 생태계) 고찰이라는 두 가지 분석 방법을 사용하여 종합적으로 고찰하였다. 먼저, 저자 키워드의 공출현 관계를 기반으로 VOSviewer를 활용하여 키워드 네트워크 분석을 실시하였다. 이를 통해 창업 관련 연구 주제의 구조와 트렌드를 시계열적으로 탐색할 수 있었다. 총 30개 이상의 주요 클러스터가 도출되었으며, 이를 정부 시기별로 구분하여 창업연구의 진화 양상을 추적하였다. 분석 결과, 창업의도, 기업가정신, 창업교육, 자기효능감, 스타트업 등의 키워드는 전 시기를 아우르며 중심성과 빈도 모두 높은 핵심 주제로 나타났으며, 2016년 이후 급증세를 보였다. 클러스터별로는 기술 기반 스타트업과 투자 의사결정, 창업교육과 심리 요인, 조직행동과 직무만족, 사회적 가치 기반 창업, 스타트업 생태계 및 ESG 등으로 다층적인 연구 지형이 형성되어 있었다. 또한, 논문들을 개인, 조직, 생태계라는 세 가지 분석 수준으로 분류하여 고찰한 결과, 각 수준별로 연구의 중점 분야가 뚜렷하게 구분되어 발전해 왔음을 확인했다. 개인 수준에서는 창업자의 역량, 리더십, 투자 의사결정 등에 대한 연구가 주를 이루었고, 조직 수준에서는 벤처투자, 스타트업 성장, 비즈니스모델 혁신과 관련된 연구들이 이론적·방법론적 기반을 견고히 구축했다. 마지막으로, 생태계 수준에서는 정부 정책, 성장 지원 제도, 창업교육 인프라 등 거시적 환경 요인들이 조명되었다. 본 연구는『벤처창업연구』의 방대한 축적 데이터를 구조적으로 분석함으로써 국내 창업 연구의 지식 구조와 진화 과정을 심층적으로 규명했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 이러한 결과는 후속 연구자들에게 주요 연구 흐름을 조망할 수 있는 학문적 기초를 제공하며, 급변하는 창업 환경에 맞는 정책적 시사점을 도출하는 데 기여할 것으로 기대한다.
Abstract
Despite the quantitative growth of entrepreneurship research in Korea, existing studies have often taken a fragmented approach, making it difficult to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the overall knowledge system. Furthermore, these studies have not sufficiently addressed the temporal trends of research or their connection to policy changes. To overcome these limitations, this study provides a comprehensive review of articles published in the Journal of Venture Entrepreneurship from 2006 to 2024 using a two-pronged analytical approach: keyword network analysis and a multi-level review (individual, organizational, and ecosystem levels). First, we performed a keyword network analysis using VOSviewer based on the co-occurrence relationships of author keywords. This allowed us to explore the structure and temporal trends of entrepreneurship research topics. The analysis yielded over 30 main clusters, which were categorized by government periods to trace the evolution of entrepreneurship research. The results showed that keywords such as entrepreneurial intention, entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship education, self-efficacy, and startup were core topics with high centrality and frequency throughout the entire period, showing a sharp increase after 2016. The clusters revealed a multi-layered research landscape, including technology-based startups and investment decisions, entrepreneurship education and psychological factors, organizational behavior and job satisfaction, social value-based entrepreneurship, and startup ecosystems and ESG. Next, we classified the articles into three analytical levels-individual, organizational, and ecosystem-to comprehensively examine the knowledge structure and development trajectory of domestic entrepreneurship research. The multi-level review found that research at the individual level primarily focused on the entrepreneur's capabilities, leadership, and investment decision-making. Research at the organizational level established a solid theoretical and methodological foundation in areas related to venture capital investment, startup growth, and business model innovation. Finally, research at the ecosystem level shed light on macro-environmental factors such as government policies, growth support systems, and entrepreneurship education infrastructure. By structurally organizing the accumulated data from the Journal of Venture Entrepreneurship, this study identifies temporal changes in research trends and provides an in-depth analysis of the structural landscape of research topics. This offers a foundational resource for future researchers to survey key research streams and provides both policy and academic insights.
