간호대학생의 공감능력과 임상수행능력과의 관계에서 간호전문직관의 매개효과

This study aimed to investigate the mediating effect of nursing professionalism on the relationship between empathy and clinical competence among nursing students. The participants were 241 third- and fourth-year nursing students from three universities located in G Metropolitan City, who voluntarily agreed to participate after understanding the purpose of the study. Data were collected through an online survey using Google Forms from November 4 to December 27, 2024. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 27.0, employing t-tests, ANOVA with Scheffé's post hoc test, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. The mediating effect was tested using PROCESS macro 4.2 (Model 4). The results revealed that clinical performance competence was significantly positively correlated with empathy (r= .33, p< .01) and nursing professionalism (r= .49, p< .01). Notably, nursing professionalism demonstrated a full mediating effect on the relationship between empathy and clinical performance competence. These findings suggest that nursing education should move beyond a knowledge and skills centered curriculum to focus on fostering professional values that enhance clinical performance. In particular, educational programs that cultivate professional identity based on empathy may contribute to strengthening nursing competencies. Future research is needed to develop and validate various educational models for this purpose.
