본 연구는 사천지역 문화유산을 중심으로, 지역 주민의 문화유산 자긍심이 지역사회 참여의도에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하고자 하였다. 특히 문화유산 자긍심이 지역 정체성과 공동체 의식을 매개로 하여 참여의도에 미치는 간접 효과를 함께 규명함으로써, 지역문화유산이 지역 공동체 활성화에 미치는 사회심리적 메커니즘을 밝히는 데 연구의 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 사천지역에 거주하는 주민들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고, 구조방정식 모형(SEM)을 활용하여 연구모형을 검증하였다. 분석 결과, 문화유산 자긍심은 지역사회 참여의도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 지역 정체성과 공동체 의식 또한 참여의도에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 아울러 부트스트랩핑을 통한 매개효과 분석 결과, 문화유산 자긍심은 지역 정체성과 공동체 의식을 매개로 참여의도에 간접적으로도 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 이는 문화유산에 대한 긍지와 애착이 지역 주민의 정체성과 공동체적 유대를 강화하고, 궁극적으로 자발적인 지역사회 활동 참여로 이어질 수 있음을 의미한다. 본 연구는 문화유산이 단지 과거의 유산을 보존하는 데 그치지 않고, 현재 공동체 구성원의 정체성 형성과 지역사회 활성화에 핵심적인 심리사회적 자원이 될 수 있음을 보여준다는 점에서 이론적 및 정책적 시사점을 제공한다. 또한 문화유산 보존 및 활용에 있어 주민 주도의 참여 기반 구축의 필요성을 제언하며, 지역문화자산을 활용한 지속가능한 공동체 발전 전략 수립에 기초 자료를 제공한다는 점에서 실천적 의의가 있다.
Abstract
This study aims to empirically analyze the influence of local residents' pride in cultural heritage on their intention to participate in community activities, focusing on cultural heritage in the Sichuan region. In particular, the study seeks to identify the indirect effects of cultural heritage pride on participation intention through the mediating roles of regional identity and community consciousness. By doing so, the research aims to clarify the psychosocial mechanisms through which local cultural heritage contributes to community revitalization. To achieve this, a survey was conducted among residents living in Sichuan, and the proposed research model was tested using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The analysis results showed that cultural heritage pride had a significant positive effect on the intention to participate in community activities. In addition, both regional identity and sense of community were found to positively influence participation intention. Bootstrapping analysis further confirmed that cultural heritage pride indirectly affected participation intention through regional identity and sense of community. These findings suggest that pride and emotional attachment to cultural heritage can strengthen residents’ sense of identity and social cohesion, ultimately leading to voluntary community involvement. This study provides theoretical and policy implications by demonstrating that cultural heritage functions not only as a legacy of the past but also as a vital psychosocial asset that shapes identity and promotes community engagement in the present. It also highlights the importance of establishing a resident-centered participatory foundation in heritage preservation and utilization, offering practical implications for sustainable community development strategies based on local cultural assets.
