고구려 벽화 모사 프로젝트가 학생의 예술적 표현과 문화 정체성에 미치는 영향: 전통문화 수용 태도의 매개 효과

This study aimed to explore the effects of the Goguryeo mural replication (Immo) project on students’ cultural identity and artistic expression, and to examine the mediating role of traditional culture acceptance. To achieve this, changes before and after project participation were analyzed, and the relationships among variables were verified through a structural equation model. The results showed that after participating in the project, students demonstrated significant improvements in factors related to cultural identity, such as historical and cultural awareness, community values, and aesthetic sensitivity. In addition, their artistic expression also showed positive changes in terms of diversity, individuality, and meaningfulness. These findings indicate that the Goguryeo mural replication activity goes beyond simple traditional cultural learning, enabling students to directly experience and internalize the aesthetic value and historical context of tradition, thereby strengthening their identity and expanding their creative expression. Furthermore, traditional culture acceptance was found to have a significant mediating effect on the enhancement of both cultural identity and artistic expression. This suggests that when learners develop positive attitudes and emotional engagement toward traditional culture, the educational outcomes are amplified. Overall, this study empirically demonstrates that traditional culture-based art education can simultaneously promote the formation of identity and the development of creative competence, and highlights the necessity of developing experience-centered traditional culture programs in future educational practice and cultural policy.
