키네틱 아트의 표현 요소를 활용한 네일 디자인 연구

네일 아트는 대체적으로 정적인 표면의 예술성을 가지고 있는 반면 현대인은 역동적이며 인터랙티브한 시각경험을 원하는 추세이다. 키네틱 아트의 표현 요소를 활용하면 정적인 네일 위에서 시각적 움직임, 빛의 변화, 상호작용 등 동적 효과를 구현할 수 있으며, 이는 네일 아트 디자인의 표현 가능성을 획기적으로 확장시킬 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 키네틱 아트의 표현 요소를 분석하고 이를 네일 디자인에 적용하여 창작 작품을 제작함으로써, 네일 아트 디자인의 예술적 가치를 제고하고 표현 영역을 확장하고자 한다. 문헌 연구를 통해 키네틱 아트의 개념과 조형적 요소를 고찰하고, 키네틱 아트 작가들의 작품을 사례 분석한다. 본 연구는 키네틱 아트의 표현 특성을 기반으로 4개의 네일 아트 디자인 작품을 기획하고 제작하였다. 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전통적으로 장식적 기능에 한정되었던 네일 아트를 현대 미술의 실험적 매체로 재정의함으로써 '웨어러블 키네틱 아트'라는 새로운 장르의 가능성을 제시하였다. 둘째, 알렉산더 칼더의 모빌, 브리짓 라일리의 옵아트 등 키네틱 아트의 대표적 모티브들을 네일에 적용하여 일상에서 지속적인 예술적 경험을 제공하였으며, 착용자의 손 움직임 자체가 키네틱 아트의 핵심 요소인 '관람자의 참여'를 자연스럽게 실현하게 하였다. 셋째, 옵아트의 시각적 착시 원리를 활용하여 제한된 공간에서 최대한의 시각적 임팩트를 달성하였으며, 이는 키네틱 아트의 '움직임'과 '참여성'을 네일 아트를 통해 새롭게 해석한 현대적 시도로 평가할 수 있다. 본 연구는 물리적·기술적 제약과 실용성, 제작비용 등의 한계가 있었으나, 키네틱 아트의 핵심 표현 특성을 네일 아트 디자인으로 번역함으로써 예술 장르 간 융합 가능성을 탐구하고 뷰티 아트의 예술적 가치를 확장하는 실험적 연구로서 의미를 갖는다. 향후 디지털 기술 및 AR 기술과의 융합을 통한 더욱 발전된 인터랙티브 네일 아트 디자인 개발이 기대된다.
Abstract
Nail art predominantly possesses the artistic characteristics of a static surface, whereas contemporary individuals increasingly seek dynamic and interactive visual experiences. By utilizing the expressive elements of kinetic art, it is possible to implement dynamic effects such as visual movement, light variation, and interactivity on static nails, which can dramatically expand the expressive possibilities of nail art design. Therefore, this study aims to enhance the artistic value of nail design and expand its expressive domain by analyzing the expressive elements of kinetic art and applying them to nail design through the creation of original works. Through literature review, the concept and formative elements of kinetic art were examined, and case studies of works by kinetic artists were conducted. In this study, four nail art design works were conceived and produced based on the expressive characteristics of kinetic art. The conclusions of the research are as follows. First, by redefining nail art, traditionally limited to decorative function, as an experimental medium of contemporary art, this study proposed the possibility of a new genre called 'wearable kinetic art.' Second, by applying representative motifs of kinetic art such as Alexander Calder's mobiles and Bridget Riley's Op Art to nails, continuous artistic experience was provided in daily life, and the wearer's hand movements naturally realized 'viewer participation,' a core element of kinetic art. Third, by utilizing the visual illusion principles of Op Art, maximum visual impact was achieved within limited space, which can be evaluated as a contemporary attempt to newly interpret the 'movement' and 'participatory nature' of kinetic art through nail art. Although this study had limitations in terms of physical and technical constraints, practicality, and production costs, it holds significance as an experimental study that explores the possibility of convergence between artistic genres and expands the artistic value of beauty art by translating the core expressive characteristics of kinetic art into nail art design. Future development of more advanced interactive nail art design through integration with digital technology and AR technology is anticipated.
