초록
This study aims to examine the relative importance of ESG management factors within the Social (S) dimension as perceived by food delivery platform riders in Korea. While prior ESG research has predominantly focused on consumers or corporate-level practices, this study emphasizes the perspective of platform laborers who directly experience occupational risk and institutional vulnerabilities. To assess the priority structure of S-related ESG elements, a Triangular Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was employed. Data were collected from riders between June and October 2025 using pairwise comparison questionnaires. Out of the 53 valid responses, 18 surveys that satisfied the consistency index threshold (CI≤0.1) were used for the final analysis. The results show that “Safety Assurance” is the most critical ESG factor for riders, followed by “Fair Compensation,” “Working Conditions,” and “Employee Welfare.” At the sub-factor level, items such as regular safety training, industrial accident insurance coverage, transparent evaluation systems, and fair dispatch allocation received especially high importance weights. These findings reveal that riders prioritize factors directly related to physical safety and institutional protection over general welfare benefits. The study provides meaningful implications by highlighting the necessity for ESG strategies in the platform economy to reflect worker-centered needs rather than relying solely on consumer-oriented or public-relations-driven approaches. Practically, the results suggest that platform companies must prioritize safety-focused investments and transparent compensation mechanisms to enhance trust and long-term sustainability. Academically, the study expands ESG research by introducing a labor-centered ESG evaluation framework based on fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making.
