비수도권 스타트업 성과에 미치는 액셀러레이팅 프로그램의 실증적 효과 분석

액셀러레이팅 프로그램은 기술 혁신과 일자리 창출의 핵심 동력인 스타트업의 성장을 가속화하는 중요한 역할을 수행하고 있다. 그러나 국내 창업 생태계는 수도권에 집중되어 있으며, 이는 비수도권 스타트업의 성장 격차를 심화시키고 있다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 기존의 수도권 중심 연구의 한계를 극복하고, 비수도권 스타트업을 대상으로 액셀러레이팅 프로그램 참여가 기업 성과에 미치는 영향과, 프로그램 구성 요소별 만족도가 성과와 어떤 관련성을 가지는지를 실증적으로 분석하고자 한다. 연구는 2024년 10월, 비수도권 소재의 창업 7년 미만 스타트업 94개 사를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고, 다중회귀분석을 활용해 데이터를 분석했다. 분석 결과, 액셀러레이팅 프로그램 참여는 비수도권 스타트업의 재무적 및 비재무적 성과 모두에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 특히, 프로그램 구성 요소 중 네트워킹 만족도는 비재무적 성과에 유의미한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 멘토링, 교육, 사무공간, 해외 진출, 데모데이 만족도는 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 이 결과는 비수도권 스타트업의 성장에 있어 관계 기반 자원의 중요성을 시사한다. 본 연구는 지역적 특성을 반영한 실증 분석을 통해 기존 연구의 한계를 보완하였으나, 제한된 표본 수와 단기적 관점의 양적 분석에 머문 한계가 있다. 향후 더 큰 규모의 표본과 질적 연구 방법론을 결합한 후속 연구가 필요하다.
Abstract
Accelerator programs play a crucial role in fostering the growth of startups, which are key drivers of technological innovation and job creation. Yet, Korea's startup ecosystem remains concentrated in metropolitan areas, and thus widens growth disparities with non-metropolitan startups. This study seeks to overcome these limitations by empirically examining how accelerator program participation influences enterprise performance and how satisfaction with program components relates to outcomes. A survey was conducted in October 2024 on 94 startups established within the past seven years and headquartered outside metropolitan areas. Data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The results indicated that participation in accelerator programs positively influenced financial and non-financial performance. In particular, satisfaction with networking opportunities significantly enhanced non-financial outcomes, whereas mentoring, training, office space, overseas expansion, and demo days had no significant effect. These results emphasize the importance of relationship-based resources in the growth of non-metropolitan startups. This study contributes to the literature by highlighting the importance of regional contexts in understanding accelerator effectiveness. Future research can build on these findings by employing larger samples and incorporating qualitative approaches to generate deeper and more comprehensive insight.
