제주 청년 창업농의 정착 경험과 스마트팜․6차 산업 지향성에 관한 현상학적 연구: 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 중심으로

본 연구는 제주 지역의 기술기반 청년창업농을 대상으로 그들의 정착 경험과 6차 산업 지향성을 현상학적 접근을 통해 탐색하였다. 급속한고령화와 농촌 인구 감소가 심화되는 가운데, 청년농업인은 농업의 지속성과 지역 공동체 활성화를 위한 핵심 주체로 부상하고 있다. 본 연구는 스마트팜을 기반으로 영농활동을 수행 중인 청년창업농 5명을 대상으로 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 실시하였으며, 수집된 질적자료는 Colaizzi(1978)의 절차에 따라 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 청년창업농의 정착 경험은 ‘적응과 성장의 경험’과 ‘제약과 한계의 경험’이라는 두 가지 핵심 범주로 도출되었다. 참여자들은 초기에는 불안감, 고립감, 기술적 부담감을 경험하였으나, 시간이 흐르며 기술 습득과자율적 경영을 통해 자아성장과 기업가적 정체성을 확립하였다. 반면, 농지 접근의 어려움, 담보 중심의 금융 구조, 단기적 정책 운영등 구조적 제약 요인은 장기적 정착을 저해하였다. 특히 참여자들은 단순한 농업 생산을 넘어 가공, 교육, 체험 등으로의 확장 의지를보이며, 6차 산업과의 융합을 지향하는 경향을 나타냈다. 이러한 결과는 청년농업인의 기술 역량 강화, 정착 여건 개선, 6차 산업 연계를통합적으로 지원할 수 있는 정책의 필요성을 시사하며, 청년창업농을 지속가능한 농업과 지역 혁신의 핵심 주체로 자리매김할 필요가있음을 보여준다.
Abstract
This study explores the settlement experiences and sixth industry orientation of young start-up farmers in Jeju, Korea, using a phenomenological approach. With rapid aging and rural depopulation, young farmers are critical for sustaining agriculture and revitalizing communities. Focus group interviews were conducted with five participants oriented toward technology-based farming, and data were analyzed using Colaizzi's (1978) method. The analysis identified two core categories: "adaptation and growth" and "constraints and limitations." Participants initially experienced fear, isolation, and technological challenges, but gradually developed autonomy and entrepreneurial identity through technology adoption. Nonetheless, structural barriers—including limited land access, collateral-based financing, and short-term policies hindered long-term settlement. Notably, participants expressed aspirations to expand into processing, education, and experiential activities, revealing an orientation toward sixth industry integration. These findings suggest the need for integrated policies that support technical capacity, settlement conditions, and sixth industry development, positioning young farmers as drivers of sustainable agriculture and regional innovation.
