대학 비대면 교육에서 인지적 실재감이 학습성과에 미치는 영향: 교수·사회적 실재감의 매개경로 분석
The Effects of Cognitive Presence on Learning Outcomes in University Non-Face-to-Face Education: Mediating Pathway Analysis of Teaching and Social Presence

연구배경 : 코로나19 이후 대학 비대면 교육이 일상화되면서, 학습 실재감이 학습성과를 설명하는 핵심 변인으로 주목받고 있으며, 특히 인지적 실재감의 역할에 대한 실증적 검증이 요구됨. 연구목적 : 대학 비대면 교육에서 교수 실재감, 사회적 실재감, 인지적 실재감이 학습성과에 미치는 구조적 관계를 규명하고, 인지적 실재감의 매개효과를 검증함. 연구방법 : 비대면 온라인 수업을 경험한 일반대학 재학생 313명을 대상으로 모바일 설문조사를 실시하였으며, SPSS 및 AMOS를 활용하여 구조방정식 분석을 수행함. 연구결과 : 교수 실재감은 인지적 실재감을 완전 매개로 학습성과에 유의한 영향을 미쳤으며(β=.349, p<.001), 사회적 실재감도 유사한 매개경로를 보임. 인지적 실재감은 학습성과에 대한 직접효과가 가장 크게 나타나(β=.675, p<.001), 세 실재감 중 학습성과를 가장 강력하게 예측하는 변인으로 확인됨. 시사점 : 대학 온라인 교육의 학습성과 향상을 위해 인지적 실재감을 중심으로 한 교수설계 전략이 필요하며, 본 연구는 학습자의 인지적 참여와 성찰을 촉진하는 실천적 방안을 제시함.
Abstract
Background : During the COVID-19 pandemic, universities rapidly transitioned to non-face-to-face education, raising concerns about learning effectiveness and student engagement in online environments. Purpose : This study investigates the mediating pathways through which teaching presence and social presence influence learning outcomes via cognitive presence, based on the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework. Methodology / Approach : Data were collected from 313 university students who experienced non-face-to-face courses in Fall 2021. Structural equation modeling was employed to test the hypothesized mediating pathways. Findings / Conclusions : Cognitive presence directly influenced learning outcomes (β=.675, p<.001). Teaching presence fully mediated this relationship through cognitive presence (β=.349, p<.001), with indirect effects accounting for 86.5% of total effects. Social presence showed no significant direct effect. Implications : The findings emphasize the critical role of cognitive presence as a mediating mechanism in online learning environments, providing theoretical and practical insights for designing effective non-face-to-face education.
