본 연구는 대학생에게 제공되는 장학금 수혜 여부에 영향을 미치는 요인을 장학금 유형별로 분석하고자 하였다. 장학금의 성격에 따라 수여자 선발을 위한 주요 기준이 있으나, 그와 같은 공식적 선발 기준 외에, 장학금 수여에 영향을 미치는 또 다른 요인 여부를 분석하여 시사점을 얻기 위함이다. 지방 소재 4년제 대학의 2025학년도 1학기 재학생의 장학금 유형별 수혜 여부에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하고자 학과(모형1), 학년, 성별, 평균학점(모형2), 대학적응력 척도(학생특성, 대학특성, 학업여건안정성)(모형3), 소득수준(모형4) 등의 변인을 단계적으로 투입하여 위계적 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 소득기반 장학금 수혜에는 소득수준(-), 학생특성(+), 학업여건 안정성(-)이 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 성과기반 장학금 수혜에는 평균학점(+), 소득수준(+)이 통계적으로 유의한 것으로 나타났으며, 활동기반 장학금 수혜에는 학년과 성별, 대학특성(+), 학업여건 안정성(-)이 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 연구 결과를 통해 성적, 소득, 활동 등 장학금 수여 기준 외에 장학금 유형별로 상이한 제3의 영향요인의 존재 가능성을 확인하였다. 이를 토대로 교양과정 및 비교과 활동과의 연계 등을 통해 장학금 수혜의 사각지대를 줄이고, 장학금 지급의 효율성 및 효과성 제고를 위한 개선 방안을 제안하였다.
Abstract
This study aimed to analyze factors affecting whether college students receive scholarships by scholarship type. To analyze the factors affecting whether students enrolled in the first semester of the 2025 academic year at a local four-year university receive scholarships by type, a hierarchical logistic regression analysis was conducted by stepwise inputting variables such as department (Model 1), grade, gender, GPA (Model 2), university adaptability scale (student characteristics, university characteristics, and academic stability) (Model 3), and income level (Model 4). The results showed that income level (-), student characteristics (+), and academic stability (-) had a significant effect on income-based scholarship receipt. GPA (+) and income level (+) were statistically significant on performance-based scholarship receipt, while grade, gender, university characteristics (+), and academic stability (-) had a significant effect on activity-based scholarship receipt. The research results confirmed the possibility of a third factor influencing scholarships, varying by scholarship type, beyond the criteria for scholarship awarding, such as academic performance, income, and activities. Based on this, we proposed improvement measures to reduce blind spots in scholarship benefits and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of scholarship payments, including by linking them to liberal arts courses and extracurricular activities.
