멜랑꼴리 분위기를 넘어서는 내러티브의 대전환

초록
테크놀러지 기술매체의 초가속화와 삶의 전 영역에서 커다란 영향력을 미치는 인공지능의 신화와 환상은 맹목의 시선에서 급격하게 진행되며 재편되고 있다. 우리가 살아가는 현실은 테크놀러지 기술매체의 인공지능이 강력히 부상하며, 접촉이 아닌 접속으로 형성되는 디지털 세계의 나르시시즘에 매몰되어 타자를 상실하며 급격히 공감력을 상실하고 있다. 문제는 테크놀러지 기술매체는 우리에게 초가속도의 속도를 요구하는 반면 우리의 사유와 정서의 흐름이 매체의 속도성을 따라갈 수 없는 커다란 간극으로 벌어지는 현실이다. 더욱 심각한 문제는 디지털 미디어 매체의 간접접촉으로 우리의 교감의 질과 대상과의 합일감, 아름다움의 느낌을 급속히 소멸시키는 데 있다. 팬데믹 이후 테크놀러지 기술매체의 확장과 장악력은 속도에 대한 압력을 더욱 가속화하며, 디지털 세계의 편향을 최대치로 몰아가고 있다. 인문학의 시각에서 주도하는 인공지능의 논의는 아직 정밀한 현실진단과 미래세계에 대한 숙성된 활발한 논의와 엄밀한 검증으로 전개되지 못한 상태이다. 테크놀러지 기술매체의 문화지형학의 시대적 조건에서 우리는 우리의 존재방식과 사유방식, 지각방식과 소통방식이 일상의 삶의 전 영역에서 근본적으로 어떠한 커다란 변화를 일으키는가에 대해 통찰할 필요성이 있다. 론 뮤익은 테크놀러지 기술매체의 편향으로 파편화되는 사회에서 상실된 멜랑꼴리의 세계를 충격적으로 환기하고 있다. 그는 인공지능으로 몰아가는 테크놀러지 기술매체는 우리의 감성을 황폐화하는 멜랑꼴리의 세계를 언캐니(uncanny)하게 그려내고 있다. 뮤익의 예술세계는 우리들이 처한 멜랑꼴리의 허무와 공허 앞에 노출되는 삶을 직시하는 용기와 니체적 의지로서 연민과 공감의 아픔을 이해하는 동반적 관계의 회복을 촉구하고 있다. 테크놀러지 기술매체의 인공지능과 인간의 지능의 경계에서 우리는 세계의 공허와 비참을 극복할 수 있는 상실된 내러티브의 분위기와 표상의 재현과 전환에 전력질주해야만이 뛰어넘을 수 있는 세계이다. 멜랑꼴리의 분위기에서 우리의 삶이 근본적으로 변화하기 위해서는 상실된 공동 기억과 소중한 정감적 공동체성을 되살려내는 내러티브 분위기의 대전환이 절실히 필요하다.
Abstract
The myths and fantasies surrounding artificial intelligence now exerting immense influence across all domains of life amid the ultra-acceleration of technological media are being rapidly advanced and reconfigured through an uncritical gaze. In the reality in which we live, artificial intelligence embedded in technological media is rising powerfully, while we are rapidly losing our capacity for empathy as we become immersed in a narcissistic digital world formed not through physical contact but through connection. The problem lies in the widening gap between the ultra-accelerated speed demanded by technological media and the inability of our thought and emotional processes to keep pace with such medial velocity. Even more critically, the indirect contact by digital media rapidly extinguishes the quality of our affective exchange, our sense of unity with others, and our feeling of beauty. Since the pandemic, the expansion and domination of technological media have further intensified the pressure of speed, pushing the bias of the digital world to its extreme limits. The problem lies in the widening gap between the ultra-accelerated speed demanded by technological media and the inability of our thought and emotional processes to keep pace with such medial velocity. Even more critically, the indirect contact by digital media rapidly extinguishes the quality of our affective exchange. our sense of unity with others, our feeling of beauty. Since the pandemic, the expansion and domination of technological media have further intensified the pressure of speed, pushing the bias of the digital world to it’s extreme limits. From a humanistic perspectives, contemporary discussions of artificial intelligence have yet to develop into precise diagnoses of present reality or into mature, active debates and strict verifications concerning future worlds. Under the historical conditions of the on how our modes of existence, thinking, perception and communication are undergoing fundermental transformations across all domains of everyday life.
