초록
이 논문은 15세기 알도 마누치오의 옥타보 혁명이 구축한 텍스트의 물성을 검토하며, 2025년 생성형 AI시대에 직면한 위기에, 이탈리아가 인문주의적, 법철학적 방어 전략을 취하는 것을 분석한다. 알도 마누치오가 지식을 일상으로 끌어들여 독자와 저자의 내밀한 교감을 가능하게 하여, 신의 권위 중심에서 벗어나 인간 중심의 지식 물성을 실현하게 했다면, 현대 생성형 AI는 텍스트를 저자 없는 ‘데이터’로 환원하며 이러한 돌봄의 구조를 해체하고 있다. 이에 이 연구는 마우리치오 페라리스의 ‘다큐멘탈리티’ 이론과 우고 파갈로 등의 법철학을 경유하여, 텍스트 배후에 존재하는 인간의 책임과 인간 중심을 역설하는 이탈리아의 사례를 살펴본다. 또한 2025년 제정된 이탈리아 인공지능법(Legge 132/2025)이 저작권의 주체를 ‘인간 저자’로 엄격히 제한한 것을 기술 권위주의 시대에 인간성을 수호하기 위한 ‘법적 물성’임을 검토한다. 결론적으로 이탈리아의 AI 전략은 기계적 연산이 닿지 않는 인간 사유를 지키고 지식을 다시 인간이 서로를 보살피는 공유지로 되돌려 놓으려는 철학적 실천임을 밝힌다.
Abstract
This study examines the materiality of the text established by Aldo Manutzio’s ‘Octavo Revolution’ in the 15th century and analyzes the humanistic and legal-philosophical defense strategies Italy is employing in the face of the crisis posed by the Generative AI era in 2025. While Aldo Manuzio brought knowledge into everyday life—enabling intimate communion between reader and author and realizing a human-centered materiality of knowledge away from divine authority—modern generative AI reduces text to authorless ‘data,’ thereby dismantling this structure of care. In response, this study explores the Italian case, which underscores human responsibility and human-centricity behind the text, drawing on Maurizio Ferraris’s theory of ‘Documentality’ and the legal philosophy of scholars such as Ugo Pagallo. Furthermore, the paper investigates the Italian AI Law (Legge 132/2025), enacted in 2025, which strictly limits the subject of copyright to ‘human authors.’ This measure is examined as a form of ‘legal materiality’ designed to safeguard humanity in an age of technological authoritarianism. In conclusion, it is asserted that Italy’s AI strategy is a philosophical practice aimed at safeguarding human thought, which remains beyond the reach of mechanical computation, and restoring knowledge to a commons where humans care for one another.
