This study aims to empirically examine the factors influencing life satisfaction among elementary school children from immigrant single-mother families within a developmental contextual framework. Using data from the first wave of the second phase of the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Survey (MAPS) conducted by the National Youth Policy Institute, hierarchical regression analyses were performed on a sample of 2,210 elementary school children from multicultural families. The results indicate that family structure was significantly associated with life satisfaction in the baseline model; however, its effect became non-significant after controlling for socioeconomic status and parenting characteristics. In particular, supportive parenting attitudes, parent-child communication, and participation in cultural and leisure activities emerged as key factors associated with higher life satisfaction. When migration-related factors were included in the model, the coefficient for family structure became significant again, suggesting that migration context and family structure may intersect to exert negative influences on children’s life satisfaction. These findings suggest that the life satisfaction of children from immigrant single-mother families should be understood not as a consequence of structural deficit, but as the result of relational and environmental factors operating within a specific developmental stage. This study provides empirical evidence to support early identification of vulnerable children and the development of preventive interventions in school social work and child welfare practice.
