특성화고 졸업자의 진학 및 취업 경로 분석: 고교 전공 일치 여부를 중심으로
Analysis of Academic and Employment Paths of Vocational High School Graduates: Focusing on Major Match

본 연구는 특성화고 졸업자의 대학 진학 및 취업 현상을 구체적으로 이해하기위해 한국교육고용패널조사Ⅱ 자료를 활용하여 특성화고 졸업 후 72개월간의 진학 및 취업 이행 경로를 고교 전공 일치 관점에서 분석하였다. 분석 결과 특성화고 졸업자의 진학 및 취업 이행 경로로 1)미진학 취업형(n=631, 49.8%), 2)전공일치 일반대학 진학 및 학업지속형(n=174, 13.7%), 3)전공일치 전문대학 진학 후취업형(n=133, 10.5%), 4)전공전환 일반대학 진학 및 학업지속형(n=89, 7.0%), 5)전공전환 전문대학 진학 후 취업형(n=166, 13.1%), 6)전공전환 진학 및 군복무이행형(n=74, 5.8%)이 도출되었다. 이를 통해 첫째, 진학자 내에서는 고교 전공과일치된 분야로의 진학과 그렇지 않은 진학이 유사 규모로 나타나고 있음을 확인할수 있었으며, 둘째, 마이스터고와 달리 특성화고 졸업자에게서 선취업-후진학 유형이 나타나지 않고, 셋째, 미진학 상태로 노동시장에 위치해 있는 학생들이 분석대상의 절반을 차지함을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 주요 시사점및 지원 방안을 제언하였다.
Abstract
This study explores the post-graduation trajectories of specialized vocational high school graduates in Korea using Waves 3–8 of the Korean Education and Employment Panel Survey II (KEEP II). Sequence and cluster analyses of 1,267 graduates identified six pathways: (1) direct employment without higher education (49.8%), (2) major-matched 4-year university enrollment and academic persistence (13.7%), (3) employmnet after major-matched junior coleege enrollment (10.5%), (4) major-changed 4-year university enrollment and academic persistence (7.0%), (5) employment after major-changed junior college enrollment (13.1%), and (6) major-changed enrollment followed by military service (5.8%). The findings reveal several key insights: First, a similar distribution between major-matched and major-changed transitions among students in the academic track. Second, the absence of "work-first, college-later" trajectories. Third, that 50% of the sample entered the labor market directly without pursuing further education. These results inform the proposed policy support measures for vocational high school graduates.
